Trash your war toys

Recently several children in the USA have been shot by police while brandishing or allegedly carrying a ‘gun’ which ultimately turned out to be toys or replicas of real weapons.

In addition to these tragedies when children are given toys which mimic use by adults in violent situations we cannot be surprised if they come to regard use of weapons as ‘normal’ and even in some cases a ‘right’.

Similarly, the content of some video games which includes extreme violence of all kinds cannot be regarded as only a censorship issue for parents with their children – but also raises the question of WHY any person – regardless of their age would need to ‘play’ such games and how children observing are anyway exposed to violence if seeing parents and other ‘adults’ playing them?
